This piece was inspired by a Mater Dolorosa figure I saw at a museum in Manila. Her face—so pure in its sorrow—moved me deeply. It felt as if she wasn’t just mourning a son, but witnessing the world’s cruelty and carrying its collosal grief with silent grace. In her stillness, I saw the divine feminine: present, empathetic, and powerfully calm. This piece honours her as the softness in a hard world, a sacred witness, and reminder of the strength of sensitivity in a time ruled by logic.
